In the News

It is surprising how many articles in the press relate to disability and human rights, although the human rights elements are often not made clear.

In all cases, links are to articles on external internet sites and Human Rights & Disability is not responsible for the content of such sites. I should also emphasise that I try to post articles of relevance, without making subjective judgements based on whether I agree with the subject matter or conclusions.

This section provides links to relevant articles in the mainstream media, grouped under the following subject headings:

NOTE

Inevitably, the page names (i.e. 'abuse', 'discrimination') are a shorthand method of summarising the content of each section, they are not intended to suggest that the situation described in the various articles is proven. Thus, the fact that a legal case has been brought alleging discrimination will appear on the 'discrimination' page but it is not suggested or implied that the relevant allegations have been upheld - that is the purpose of the legal action reported.

In all cases, links are to external internet sites and Human Rights & Disability is not responsible for the content of such sites.

I am grateful to Guardian News and Media Limited [Guardian Unlimited] and Reed Business Information Ltd [communitycare.co.uk] for permission to provide links to articles published on their web sites.

I should also like to acknowledge Independent News and Media Limited for their clear and easy to find permission to link to The Independent Newspaper site [see item 5 at this link]
